Memorial Day Mayhem in the Mountains comes to Smoky Mountain Speedway

Maryville, Tennessee – Smoky Mountain Speedway returns to racing action on Friday, May 24 with the Memorial Day Mayhem in the Mountains. The event will consist of three late model divisions racing for big money.

The American Crate All-Stars return for a $2,000 to win race. Cory Hedgecock of Loudon held off a charging Jake Teague to win the previous race at Smoky Mountain Speedway back on April 13. Anthony White, Aaron Guinn, Greg Martin, Ross White, and many other drivers are expected for this event.

The limited late models return for their second points race in a $2,000 to win program. It will also be a topless race, no roofs on the cars. Jordan Rodablaugh won the previous race on March 23 and currently sits atop the point standings. Chase King, Tod Hernandez, David Crabtree, Jason Manley, and many more are expected.

The sportsman late models are the third division on the card for May 24. They will race for $1,200 to win Joshua Sneed leads the point standings after the first two events. Terry Poore, Jed Emert, Hunter Kerr, Bryan Cooper, and a host of others are anticipated to be racing.

Mufflers are mandatory for all cars that race at Smoky Mountain Speedway.

During the intermission, there will be kids’ bicycle races and power wheel races. The power wheel race is for kids 5 and under. Bicycle races will be broken down into age groups of 6-7, 8-9, and 10-11. There will be a boys group and a girls group. The winner of each group will receive a trophy. All kids that enter will be eligible to win one of two bicycles to be given away. The two winners will be randomly drawn.

There will be a number of prizes given away throughout the night including the t-shirt toss where at least one shirt will have money rolled up inside the shirt as well as a drawing for two general admission tickets to the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series race on June 15.

Pit gates open at 4:00. Grandstand and tier parking gates will each open at 5:00. The drivers meeting is scheduled for 6:30 and hot laps are set to being at 7:00.

General admission tickets are $15 for adults, kids 11 and under are free. Tier parking admission is $20 for adults, kids 11 and under are free. Pit passes are $35 for adults, kids 11 and under are $15.

Smoky Mountain Speedway is located 12 miles south of Maryville, Tennessee. From Maryville, take Highway 411 south for 10 miles and turn left onto Brick Mill Road. Follow Brick Mill Road for approximately 2 miles, the racetrack is on the right. The first entrance is for grandstand parking. The second entrance is for tier parking and campground access. The pit entrance is the next right on Crye Road.
