A series record 51 entrants signed in for the race. Kennedy
earned the pole position for the 40-lap race by winning the fast
car dash. Ownbey joined Kennedy on the front role of the feature.
Kennedy held off Ownbey to take the early lead. Ownbey settled
into second with Ross White giving chase from the third spot.
Zach Sise would eventually take third from White late in the race.
Kennedy looked to be in control as the laps counted down. Ownbey
moved to the rear bumper of Kennedy. On lap 37, Ownbey dove under
Kennedy to take the lead. Ownbey drove away over the final 3 laps
to secure the win. Sise passed Kennedy with two to go to take
second. A disappointed Kennedy finished in third.
Jed Emert won the sportsman late model feature in convincing
fashion. Emert immediately grabbed the lead over D.J. Shannon.
Shannon spun going into turn 1 which handed second place to Adam
Mitchell. Mitchell had nothing for Emert who jumped out to over
a three-second lead in taking the win. Chandler Hickman finished
third.
Dustin Duncan had a early challenge before dominating the front
wheel drive feature. Nick Romesburg battled Duncan for the lead
as they raced side-by-side for the first three laps of the race.
Duncan took control of the race and pulled away to easily win.
Travis Weeks took home second and Trent Lee was third.
The next event at Smoky Mountain Speedway in June 13-14 when
the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series returns for the Mountain
Moonshine Classic.
